Welcome
to the Buzzards Bay Sail and Power Squadron (BBSPS) and to the cruising
waters of Cape Cod, the Islands, and Buzzards Bay. These waters
should be familiar to those who have taken boating courses across
the country that use the 1210TR training chart.
Given the opportunity to actually boat where you train on these
beautiful yet challenging cruising waters, the Squadron promotes
safe boating through educational programs and builds fellowship
among the membership and boating community.
The Buzzards Bay Sail and Power Squadron was founded in 1962 as
an offshoot of the Cape Cod Squadron, and now serves the Upper Cape
Cod towns of Bourne, Cotuit, Falmouth, Mashpee, Wareham, Sandwich,
and Plymouth. BBSPS provides a full educational curriculum as well
as a wide range of activities providing members with the opportunity
to socialize with others who share a common interest in boating.
Please check the web page calendar for upcoming events including
summer rendezvous'.
We welcome you to enroll in one of our Public Boating Courses, held
each year in the Bourne and Falmouth areas. Upon completion of a
Boating Course, we hope you will continue your boating education
by joining the USPS and participating in one of the many educational
programs ranging from Seamanship to Celestial Navigation. We also
offer a number of elective courses including Cruise Planning, Marine
electronics, Engine Maintenance, Sail and Weather.
As you browse through the website, you will notice it is frequently
updated with information on events and squadron news. For your convenience,
the website provides a number of links to sites of interest to boaters.
Thank you for visiting the BBSPS website and I hope you will join
us at one of the many activities scheduled this year.
Good Boating,
Paul Tarr, AP
Commander, Buzzards Bay Sail and Power Squadron
