Come to the quaint seaside village of Woods Hole, with all its maritime attractions, for this fall’s four district conference. What better way to learn and help influence the future directions of the USPS? Your help and participation can make this conference one to remember!

Over the weekend there will be four information tracks that will focus upon the Marine Environment, Navigation and Seamanship, USPS Education, and Commander/Admin Excellence. In addition, there will be sponsor presentations and products, tours for the spouses of wonderful Cape Cod, a silent auction, hospitality suites, a town meeting with the National Bridge, great food and camaraderie with friends across 32 of the northeast squadrons.  There will be sessions and activities of interest for everyone!

The dress code for the conference is casual with the exception
of Saturday evening when the dress code for the social
hour and banquet is blazers and ties, or equivalent.

At the conference we sold a number of different boating titles from McGraw-Hill and in spite of robust sales, we still have a number of each book left. The books need to be returned to the publisher to recoup the cost of the books to the squadron. As you likely know the cost of shipping books is not cheap!

Because of this we have decided that rather than incur the shipping costs, we'll sell the books at our cost. This cost is 30-40% less than the best Amazon.com price. This is an great opportunity to buy some terrific boating books at an outstanding price, and with the upcoming holiday season, it's a chance you shouldn't pass up.

Bob Sweet, who lives in Waquoit, has the inventory, so it is just a matter of sending him an e-mail (aep@mindspring.com) or calling him (508-495-4300) to arrange for picking them up. Otherwise we'll have to add a $2.50 shipping and handling charge to each book.

If you want books shipped, send your check made out to BBSPS, along with your mailing address and phone number, to Bob Sweet, 54 Cash's Trail, Waquoit, MA 02536. You might want to give him a call to let him know the check is in the mail because the books are already starting to sell out.

Even with the shipping charge it's a great deal, and it helps the squadron by liquidating this inventory without additional cost.

In addition, we also have a few copies of Piloting and Advanced Piloting available for sale.

(Click on the cover for more information)

The Piloting book is the first of the navigational classes focusing on techniques for piloting a boat in coastal and inland conditions. The price is $24.50.

(Click on the cover for more information)

The Advanced Piloting book is the final part of the inland and coastal navigation series and builds on Piloting with practical use of additional electronic navigation systems and other advanced techniques of finding position. The price is $26.50.

These books are particularly useful to members for review when one has taken the Piloting course years ago and can also be used for self-study by members with help from the education group if and when needed. If you took Piloting and/or Advance Piloting a few years ago, these are the completely rewritten editions with electronic navigation integrated into the material.

To buy either Piloting or Advanced Piloting, Call Peter Moon at 508-563-9569 or email capecodmoon@verizon.net for any further information.
