| After January 1, 2006 the USPS must certify all instructors of our boating safety courses. To qualify for certification, one must be an active school or college teacher or complete the Instructor Development (ID) course and have had some classroom or public presentation experience during the last three years. Presently, the BBS&PS has 10 certified instructors, most of them involved in teaching elective courses. We need to groom more boating safety instructors for Boat Smart and Boating. Anyone who is interested in serving the public and the BBS&PS by teaching in the future should plan to take the ID course. Assisting at one of the safety courses should provide the necessary classroom experience. |
